KARACHI: To mark the World Intellectual Property Day, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with Brands Foundation organized and conducted a seminar on “IP Transformation in Pakistan” on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. President KCCI - Junaid Esmail Makda presided over the seminar while President Intellectual Property Association of Pakistan – Tarik Feroze, CEO – Brands Foundation, Shaikh Rashid Alam, Additional Director – Directorate of Customs IPR Enforcement, Sajjad Hyder Jhinjhin, Assistant Controller Patents – IPO-Pakistan, Saima Kanwal and IP Theft Investigation Consultant – Muhammad Qaiser, also spoke on the occasion. An honorable crest of KCCI, was presented by Junaid Esmail Makda, President to all the guest speakers. The honorable speakers were then presented the Certificates of Acknowledgement by President - Intellectual Property Association of Pakistan, Mr. Tarik Feroze, President - Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Junaid Esmail Makda and CEO – Brands Foundation, Mr. Shaikh Rashid Alam, in recognition of their valuable contribution in promoting the Awareness of Intellectual Property in Pakistan.This was followed by the Inauguration of National IP Drive and celebration of World IP Day 2019 by cutting a Celebratory cake. This was henceforth decided that the KCCI Business Community alongside IPO Pakistan and Brands Foundation shall collectively play a role in supporting the interests and nourishing the movement of Intellectual Property awareness and transformation in Pakistan. On April 26 of every year, countries around the world celebrate World Intellectual Property Day to learn about the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity.

GENEVA, March 20, 2019: IPO-Pakistan celebrates World IP Day every year by organizing special events. The theme of World IP Day, 2019 is “Reach for Gold: IP and Sports”. IPO Pakistan in collaboration with Permanent Mission of Pakistan at Geneva organized an exhibition to commemorate Pakistan’s National Day on the premises of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) where 400 delegates of over 180 countries visited the venue. IPO-Pakistan selected a range of sport products to display at the exhibition after rich consultations of key stakeholders of national sports industries including Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industries (SCCI), Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PSGMEA), Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PLGMEA), Pakistan Gloves Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PGMEA) and Sports Industries development Centre (SIDC). Lahore: 20-21 February, 2019:The second phase of the Training Workshop on Patent Database Searches and Development of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) was held in Lahore. ABC delegation visits IPO-Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, February 07, 2019: A 15-member delegation of American Business Council (ABC), headed by its president Mr. Ahmed Jamal Mir visited Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan) on Thursday and met the Chairman IPO, Mr. Mujeeb Ahmed Khan. Chairman IPO apprised the delegation about the ongoing developments in the organization and briefed about the future road-map of IPO-Pakistan. President ABC spoke about counterfeiting and infringement issues and border violations. IPO offered complete support for arresting the IP Rights infringements. Chairman IPO, Mr. Mujeeb Ahmed Khan stressed for a pro-active role of business community to work together for enhancing awareness among masses regarding Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). The meeting was also attended by Director General IPO, Mr. Irfan Tarar, Executive Director, Mr. Meesaq Arif, Secretary General ABC, Ms. Amna Daudi and others.
