KARACHI: To mark the World Intellectual Property Day, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with Brands Foundation organized and conducted a seminar on “IP Transformation in Pakistan” on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. President KCCI - Junaid Esmail Makda presided over the seminar while President Intellectual Property Association of Pakistan – Tarik Feroze, CEO – Brands Foundation, Shaikh Rashid Alam, Additional Director – Directorate of Customs IPR Enforcement, Sajjad Hyder Jhinjhin, Assistant Controller Patents – IPO-Pakistan, Saima Kanwal and IP Theft Investigation Consultant – Muhammad Qaiser, also spoke on the occasion. An honorable crest of KCCI, was presented by Junaid Esmail Makda, President to all the guest speakers. The honorable speakers were then presented the Certificates of Acknowledgement by President - Intellectual Property Association of Pakistan, Mr. Tarik Feroze, President - Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Junaid Esmail Makda and CEO – Brands Foundation, Mr. Shaikh Rashid Alam, in recognition of their valuable contribution in promoting the Awareness of Intellectual Property in Pakistan.This was followed by the Inauguration of National IP Drive and celebration of World IP Day 2019 by cutting a Celebratory cake. This was henceforth decided that the KCCI Business Community alongside IPO Pakistan and Brands Foundation shall collectively play a role in supporting the interests and nourishing the movement of Intellectual Property awareness and transformation in Pakistan. On April 26 of every year, countries around the world celebrate World Intellectual Property Day to learn about the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity.

Every year, April 26, is celebrated as World Intellectual Property Rights Day by member States of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), including Pakistan, in order to learn about the role that Intellectual Property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity. The theme for this year - Reach for Gold : IP and Sports - takes a closer look inside the world of sports and explores how innovation, creativity and the IP rights that encourage and protect them, support the development of sport and its enjoyment around the world.

ISLAMABAD, April 21, 2019: In order to create maximum awareness among masses regarding the protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and as a part of World IP Day celebrations, Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan) held an awareness walk on Sunday.

Intellectual property (IP) is the lifeblood of global innovation economy, and the protection of IP rights assures that intangible creations of an individual or a corporation and their inventions, innovations and value addition will be secure. Today IP is a key consideration in day-to-day business decisions. The value creating potential in IP has never been more high-profile than it is now. Patent-driven auctions and a growing number of other transactions have put IP on the front pages of business publications across the world.

GENEVA, March 20, 2019: IPO-Pakistan celebrates World IP Day every year by organizing special events. The theme of World IP Day, 2019 is “Reach for Gold: IP and Sports”. IPO Pakistan in collaboration with Permanent Mission of Pakistan at Geneva organized an exhibition to commemorate Pakistan’s National Day on the premises of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) where 400 delegates of over 180 countries visited the venue. IPO-Pakistan selected a range of sport products to display at the exhibition after rich consultations of key stakeholders of national sports industries including Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industries (SCCI), Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PSGMEA), Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PLGMEA), Pakistan Gloves Manufacturer & Exporters Association (PGMEA) and Sports Industries development Centre (SIDC). Well-known brands of Footballs, Handball, Cricket Bats and Balls, Marshal Art kits, Gloves, Hockey sticks and sportswear were displayed at the exhibition

SIALKOT, February 26, 2019: Director General, Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan), Mr. Muhammad Irfan Tarar held separate meetings with Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI), Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacture & Exporters Association (PSGMEA) and Sport Industries Development Centre (SIDC).

Lahore: 20-21 February, 2019:The second phase of the Training Workshop on Patent Database Searches and Development of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) was held in Lahore. The training workshop was a joint initiative of IPO Pakistan, WIPO and Higher Education Commission (HEC) to introduce Patent databases to Universities, R&D institutes, Chambers of Commerce and SMEs in Pakistan. Primary objective of TISC workshop was to promote the use of Patent databases for prior art searches in order to avoid reinventing the wheel.

IPO Pakistan with the collaboration of HEC and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized a Training Workshop on “Patent Database Searches & Development of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) on 11-12 February,2019 at PNEC-NUST, Karachi. 

ISLAMABAD, February 07, 2019: A 15-member delegation of American Business Council (ABC), headed by its president Mr. Ahmed Jamal Mir visited Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan) on Thursday and met the Chairman IPO, Mr. Mujeeb Ahmed Khan. Chairman IPO apprised the delegation about the ongoing developments in the organization and briefed about the future road-map of IPO-Pakistan. President ABC spoke about counterfeiting and infringement issues and border violations. IPO offered complete support for arresting the IP Rights infringements. Chairman IPO, Mr. Mujeeb Ahmed Khan stressed for a pro-active role of business community to work together for enhancing awareness among masses regarding Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). The meeting was also attended by Director General IPO, Mr. Irfan Tarar, Executive Director, Mr. Meesaq Arif, Secretary General ABC, Ms. Amna Daudi and others.
