Intellectual property (IP) is the lifeblood of global innovation economy, and the protection of IP rights assures that intangible creations of an individual or a corporation and their inventions, innovations and value addition will be secure. Today IP is a key consideration in day-to-day business decisions. The value creating potential in IP has never been more high-profile than it is now. Patent-driven auctions and a growing number of other transactions have put IP on the front pages of business publications across the world.

New products, industrial design, brands and artistic work appear almost daily in the market and are the result of continuous human innovation and creativity. While Pakistani industry has been increasingly realizing the importance and benefits of IP creation and protection, the IPO PAKISTAN under the umbrella of Federal Ministry of Commerce has been doing their best in creating conducive environment by upgrading infrastructure and bringing in policy level initiatives in the country which has resulted in sweeping changes in IP Culture and administration in the Country.

Since its inception, Brands Foundation has become a catalyst and one of the nation’s most influential advocates for development of IP Culture and to ensure the respect the genuine IP owners’ rights at all level.

In pursuance of our mandate as the only organization in Pakistan having “Accredited Permanent Observer Status” at WIPO (the specialized agency of UN), Brands Foundation in collaboration with IPO PAKISTAN & IPAP are organizing a flagship series of IP-oriented events under the banner of "National IP Drive" across Pakistan followed by the celebration of "World IP Day 2019" and conferring the "First IP Excellence Awards".   

The motive behind these initiatives is to create awareness of IP-Creativeness and significance of IP rights regarding the broader understanding of how IP can add value, drive business growth and improve competitiveness in different walks of life.

The activities of this “National IP Drive” has been scheduled to be held during the month of April starting from 15th to 26th April 2019 at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.  

During this maiden initiative there will be a series of IP-Centric events, these events feature Conferences, Theater, Road Show, IP excellence awards, Roundtable discussions on IP & Global Innovation economy”, panel debates, keynote addresses, and individual talks by academics, practitioners, judges, industry representatives, and others.

This nationwide drive will serve as a knowledge sharing platform for the IP community to network with business entrepreneurs and IP thought-provoking leaders and exchange insights on the latest developments and global trends on this subject. Participants from across the country and abroad will share and discuss how businesses can grow and expand through the astute use of intellectual property. Innovators, creators and professionals keen to find out how they can leverage IP as part of their business growth and expansion strategy.

The eventful journey of this National IP Drive will be followed by the celebration of World IP Day 2019 and commemoration of first IP Excellence Awards in Pakistan.
